Description

Upgrading from a 3700x and a 5700 XT in an ITX case. Really nice to build in a mid tower again, so much room. Just put my old ITX mobo in and it fits pretty nicely. It doesn't cover the cutout for ATX mobos but the LEDs give it sort of a cool glowy effect.

Part Reviews

CPU

Got it pretty discounted for 340$ just as the 7000s came out, really nice boost in performance even in gaming from my previous 3700x. All I had to do was update my mobo bios.

CPU Cooler

Pump can get a little loud, emitting a high pitched whirring sound. But fortunately the RPM can be turned down. Generally quiet.

Motherboard

Has done the job since 2019 but the LEDs on the backside are very fragile, one has fallen off already and another came dead out of the box.

Video Card

Huge upgrade over the 5700 XT, temperatures rarely even touch the 70s while maxing out 1080p at 144hz or UHD at 90-120hz. Minor coil whine. Huge heatsink barely fit in the H5 flow and the GPU brace that it came with would not fit, so I had to get one third party.

Case

Amazing to build in and looks great, tons of space on the backside for cable management. Note that the lower intake fan occupies space where one might put a hard drive.

Power Supply

Coil whine if not turned on eco mode but otherwise a solid PSU, operating since 2015 or so.

Clean build! Did you spray paint that gpu?

I think that's the stock color for the shroud and backplate

The 'Black' edition of this GPU has the metallic aluminum back plate like the XTX, so this is out of the box. Surprisingly the 'Ultra' edition of the GPU has a more standard 'black' painted backplate.

Nice clean build, how are the noise levels of that XFX ? cheers

Past 50% it's pretty loud. But honestly haven't found the need to turn it past 50 or even like 30 for that matter. Did some reasonable OCs and with the fan at 50% the temps don't really go past 60c. Without the OC things rarely get past 50c with the fans running between 30%-40% which is quieter or about the same as my case+CPU fans.

Nice build! I just grabbed the same GPU and mine has pretty bad coil whine. How is yours?

It's been super dependent on the game. But it usually stops if I cap the framerate. Maybe 1 in 10 games I play gets it noticeably.

Also realized a good chunk of coil whine was coming from my PSU in 'performance mode' guess the higher power draw makes it act up. But when I put it on 'eco mode' it's way quieter.

thanks for letting me know! i ended up shipping mine back for a replacement because it seemed to have much more whine than normal. other reviews have said it was minimal and this one was really bad. hopefully my replacement is a bit better. it whined even with a 60 FPS cap.

Very beautiful build, exactly something like this I would like in the future!

Im very surprised that two fans can light up the case that much. I was sure you used a white LED strip like i do.

I was surprised too, they're the fan lights that come with the Kraken. I probably won't get more because these LED fans are plenty. Really impressed with the amount of customization you can do with those too.

Any issues with getting the AIO on the top? I read from one user that it doesn't support a top mounted AIO but looks like you came through with it
